The Mighty Bengal

20,00 €

This map is one of its kind: it doesn’t feature any border and show a region, Bengal, that ceased to exist almost three centuries ago and has stopped being represented in maps this way. Instead, it gives the viewer a glimpse of the great landscape of the region: from the Himalayan foothills to the lush Ganga-Brahmaputra plains Delta, connected together by majestic rivers and a vast network of cities, among which Kolkata, Dhaka and Chittagong, majore centres of Bengali culture. The map features patterns inspired by the Jamdani cotton, used in sarees everywhere in Bengal, a testament of the rich craft of the region
