Two centuries ago, the Scottish cartographer Colin Mackenzie crossed India with note-books, measuring chains and local guides, documenting not only its geography but also its cultures. This map suggests that journey in reverse. Scotland is reinterpreted through visual traditions of the subcontinent: the compass rose, the colour palette, the pietra dura borders, and the floral motifs that run across the map all speak a different language. The landscape remains that of Scotland; only the gaze has shifted.
